Sierra 2500 transmission valve body faults on 2023 and 2024 trucks
Years: 2023, 2024
NHTSA complaint ODI 11759764, on a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500, says the control valve body failed, the truck went into limp mode at 34,000 miles, and the shop had many of the same year waiting on the same repair. Complaint ODI 11711040 says the transmission made a loud noise and speed dropped in traffic, the truck had to be towed, and the initial diagnosis was the valve body. On a Duramax forum list of 10L1000 failures, a 2023 Sierra 2500HD owner writes that the truck gave what the post calls a shutter from 5th to 6th and from 6th to 7th, set codes P0700 and P0747, downshifted to 5th, and would not leave 5th. The owner describes pavement miles and very light towing, at 34,000 miles, with a build date of January 14, 2023. A later post says the valve body arrived and the truck was fixed on July 23, 2025. The same list includes 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500 reports of limp mode and valve-body replacement, including one 2024 3500 that banged while towing a 24,000-pound RV. NHTSA complaints on the 2024 Silverado 2500, including ODI 11673856, describe a valve-body diagnosis while towing, with codes P0747 and P0700.
