- Symptoms
- Jayco standard repair procedure 22-043, published January 2022 and revised February 2022, covers a crack at the front bottom corner of the front slide, on the door side or the off-door side. The affected units it names are North Point, Pinnacle, Eagle, and Eagle HT fifth wheels before model year 2021. On the Jayco Owners Forum, a 2018 North Point owner describes a crack at the lower corner of the bedroom slide that starts at the square corner and runs down at about 45 degrees. A reply on that thread calls it a common issue. A 2018 North Point 377 owner posted a sidewall crack, and a reply says the crack on that pattern is usually at the forward corner of the bedroom slide, closest to the pin box. A 2020 North Point owner describes a stress crack at the lower corner of the bedroom slide. The first repair was paid by Jayco and the crack opened again as soon as the bedroom slide was extended. That thread says Jayco later called the sidewall crack cosmetic, and it also describes frame-weld work and a move from a factory appointment to an authorized repair shop. Another 2020 North Point owner, writing in a separate thread, says the crack was there by March 2020, Jayco replaced the driver-side wall and added bracing, and the crack came back. On an independent forum, a 2020 North Point owner says a crack under the bedroom slide was fixed under warranty, the repair failed, and later cracks, a separating ceiling, and a crooked hitch followed. That is one owner's account of what happened after the repair.
- Likely causes
- Procedure 22-043 is the repair Jayco published for that corner crack. It tells the technician to measure upper-deck flex and to call Jayco customer service if the flex is more than 1/4 inch. A reply on the 2018 North Point 377 thread says an aluminum stud weld at the base of the wall had cracked. The procedure tells the shop to inspect exposed wall-frame welds and re-weld them. The threads do not show one missed weld on every North Point.
- Common fixes
- Procedure 22-043 walks a technician through removing the bedroom slide, opening the fiberglass skin, welding aluminum gussets into the wall, and installing longer screws in the gooseneck steel angle. If the front off-door I-beam measures 8 inches, the procedure adds a steel tube and a C-channel on North Point and Pinnacle. It says not to add that tube or C-channel on Eagle or Eagle HT fifth wheels. It says Pinnacle labor is not to exceed 48 hours and other models are not to exceed 36 hours, with extra hours if the tube or propane-tank gussets are needed. Owners describe Jayco paying for a wall repair, a crack returning when the slide was run out, a full wall replacement that later cracked again, and a second repair that added a stress-relief cut. One 2020 owner wrote that Jayco called the crack cosmetic. These are owner accounts and a dealer procedure, not a driveway method.
- DIY difficulty
- Not a DIY job in these sources. Procedure 22-043 says to read it through and to call Jayco customer service with questions. It includes welding and fiberglass work, and it says those can be sent to a shop.
- Parts needed
- Procedure 22-043 names steel gusset 0326331, aluminum gussets 0501848, a fiberglass or Filon panel, sidewall decals, Sikaflex, and 4-inch screws 0403478, among other pieces. It says the tube, C-channel, and propane-tank parts are ordered only after inspection.
- Warranty notes
- The procedure says Jayco's obligation under its limited warranty is to repair or replace defective materials or workmanship when Jayco decides the work is Jayco's responsibility. It says a field remedy is not an extension of the warranty. Owner threads describe different outcomes: Jayco paid for some 2020 North Point repairs, a crack returned, and one owner was told the crack was cosmetic. None of those posts decides a claim on another North Point. Eagle fifth wheels are in the same procedure and have their own page.
