Solitude slide refrigerator rocks because factory mounts are light
Owner reportSlides
- Symptoms
- A 2025 Solitude 390RK owner wrote that the rear-kitchen refrigerator is not secured and rocks forward and back as much as 5 to 6 inches at the top in travel. Food and storage containers broke. A Grand Design tech looked at it, was surprised by the movement, and did not get it secured. The same thread includes a 2022 Reflection 303RLS with inches of rock, a slide box that separated under the fridge, and a dealer still working on the mounts. Other Reflection owners, on 2022 260RD, 2022 337RLS, and 2023 303RLS floorplans, describe the same light clips, thin wood braces, and screws pulling out of a large 12-volt Furrion in a slide.
- Likely causes
- The Solitude owner describes a refrigerator that is not fastened in the rear-kitchen opening. Reflection owners in the same discussions describe small clips, short screws into thin wood, light ceiling braces, and rollers under a heavy 12-volt fridge. The threads do not show one missed factory step on every Solitude.
- Common fixes
- The Solitude owner tried wood wedges beside the fridge, and they fell out on the road. Replies suggest reaching the feet, building a base that captures the feet, or using a removable strap while traveling. The thread does not include a finished repair on that 390RK. Reflection owners in the related threads added a wood block, L-brackets, a rebuilt slide sidewall, or stronger floor support. If the fridge moves with light hand pressure while the slide is in, those owners say to have it secured before the next trip.
- DIY difficulty
- The Solitude owner was still planning to pull the refrigerator. Reflection owners describe both dealer work and their own wood or bracket repairs. A screw driven through a sidewall punctured a cooling line on one refrigerator, and that unit had to be replaced. These threads are not a measured procedure.
- Parts needed
- No Grand Design part number is named. Owners mention wood blocks, longer screws, L-brackets, and stronger floor lumber.
- Warranty notes
- The 2025 Solitude was bought used, and the owner wrote that it was out of warranty. A reply says Grand Design customer service may still know how the fridge was meant to be secured. That is a suggestion in the thread, not a coverage decision. NHTSA recall 24V-378 is a different refrigerator problem. It covers certain 2023 Solitude fifth wheels, models 310GK and 345GK, built from June 6 to June 13, 2022, with a Norcold 2118SST. Loose or missing fasteners on that cooling unit can let the unit move and crack a propane line. It does not describe the slide mounts on the 12-volt refrigerator in the 2025 Solitude 390RK thread. A VIN has to be checked against the recall before treating 24V-378 as applicable.
