# Shasta Oasis fresh-water tanks are not held on the frame

Owner reports are not official NHTSA recalls. Each report cites a public complaint, bulletin, forum thread, or manufacturer page. It is not a failure rate, a diagnosis, or a repair procedure.

**Owner report** · Frame · 2018 Shasta Oasis

## Symptoms

On RV Insider, Jeni Reese of Alberta reviewed a 2018 Shasta Oasis 18BH on August 26, 2021. The review says the trailer was purchased new in 2018, and that the water tank fell off because it was not secured correctly. The same review describes other repairs. This page is only the tank. The reviewer wrote that the dealership was the only support, that the manufacturer was not any help, and that the warranty was one year. On the Forest River Forums, PapaMoose wrote on April 10, 2018, that the dealer replaced the fresh-water tank and added a third strap under the middle of the tank. The next day the same owner wrote that the trailer is a 2016 Shasta Oasis 26RL, and that the pump, the slide, and the water tank were covered under warranty. The post does not say the 2016 tank fell. The roof reseal on that visit cost 69 dollars.

## Likely causes

The 2018 review says the tank fell off because it was not secured correctly. The 2016 post says the dealer replaced the tank and added a third strap under the middle. Those are two different coaches and two different accounts. They do not show one loose tank on every Oasis.

## Common fixes

Before a trip with water in the fresh tank, look at the straps under the tank if you can see them. A tank that has fallen off is what the 2018 review describes. A tank that was replaced, with a third strap added under the middle, is what the 2016 post describes. If the tank is on the ground, do not tow it. The 2016 work was a dealer visit. The 2018 review does not describe who put the tank back. Ask the dealer to look at the tank mounts and to say whether the visit is warranty before the next trip.

## DIY difficulty

Looking at the straps is something an owner can do. The 2016 tank replacement was a dealer. There is no published procedure here.

## Parts needed

No Shasta part number is named. The review describes the water tank. The forum post describes a replacement fresh-water tank and a third strap under the middle.

## Warranty notes

This is not a recall. The 2018 reviewer wrote that the dealership helped and the manufacturer did not, and that the warranty was one year. The 2016 post says the tank replacement was warranty work. A review is not a coverage decision for another Oasis. The year on this page is 2018, which is the year the review names. The forum coach is a 2016 Oasis 26RL, and 2016 is not a year listed for the Oasis on this site.
