# 2024 Durango spring mounts crack at the frame

Owner reports are not official NHTSA recalls. Each report cites a public complaint, bulletin, forum thread, or manufacturer page. It is not a failure rate, a diagnosis, or a repair procedure.

## Symptoms

NHTSA complaint ODI 11754255, filed August 2, 2026, on a 2024 KZ Durango, says the fifth wheel uses a Lippert suspension and that the box steel and the welds are cracked at all four places where the leaf springs attach to the frame. The filing does not give a measurement or a repair. Complaint ODI 11711784, filed January 18, 2026, on a 2022 KZ Durango 321RKT, describes a different frame complaint. The owner wrote that the frame flexes at the front by the bedroom slide, that a bedroom-wall crack changes between the truck and the landing gear, and that the outside buckles in the same place. KZ and Lippert, in that account, said there is no frame flex, that they fixed it before this camper was built, and that the coach is out of warranty. The same filing also says leaf-spring hangers are breaking off these campers because they are not braced, and that the owner included a picture of a hanger breaking. The filing does not say that pictured hanger is the 321RKT.

## Likely causes

The 2024 complaint says the box steel and the welds are cracked where the springs attach. It does not say why. The 2022 filing's main account is flex at the bedroom slide, which is not the same description as four cracked spring mounts. The hanger sentence in that filing is a separate claim, and the picture is not tied to a floorplan in the text. The posts do not show one cracked spring mount on every 2024 Durango.

## Common fixes

Look at the spring mounts, the welds, and the box steel around them if you can see them. Cracks at all four mounts are what the 2024 complaint describes. If you find a crack there, do not treat the trailer as ready to tow. Neither filing describes a finished repair. The 2022 owner wrote that KZ and Lippert declined the front-end flex. That decision is about that coach. Call the dealer or KZ with photos of any crack at a spring mount, and ask whether the visit is warranty, before the next trip. The bedroom-slide flex in the 2022 filing is not the repair this page describes.
