# Jay Flight leaf springs snap or flatten

Owner reports are not official NHTSA recalls. Each report cites a public complaint, bulletin, forum thread, or manufacturer page. It is not a failure rate, a diagnosis, or a repair procedure.

**Owner report** · Frame · 2024 Jayco travel trailers Jay Flight

## Symptoms

NHTSA complaint ODI 11677927, filed on a 2024 Jayco Jay Flight, says a leaf spring snapped on a smooth road on a trailer that was not overloaded. The springs were replaced twice under warranty with the same parts, and the owner wrote that the replacements were already flat and W-shaped, including a second set that was failing in a photo taken right after it was installed, with the trailer empty of water. Complaint ODI 11768031, filed on a 2026 Jay Flight, says the right-rear spring flattened and bent down at the shackle. The owner noticed it while checking tire pressures, after about 200 miles, and wrote that the trailer was loaded to between one third and one half of capacity and that every item had been weighed. On the Jayco Owners Forum, in a thread about leaf-spring failures, an owner wrote on December 4, 2021, that a three-year-old Jay Flight 175RD Baja Edition broke a leaf spring on the way home from a campground. The post does not state a model year.

## Likely causes

The complaints and the forum post describe a leaf spring that snapped or flattened. They do not include a lab measurement. The 2026 owner wrote that an outside shop said the failed spring was not hardened correctly, and that Jayco said the trailer had been overloaded and driven on extreme terrain. Both of those sentences are the owner's account of what other people said. The 2024 owner wrote that the replacement springs were the same parts and were already failing. The posts do not show one spring on every Jay Flight.

## Common fixes

A spring that has snapped, or a corner that sits low, is what these owners found before the axle could shift. The 2024 complaint says a dealer replaced the springs twice under warranty and the shape was still wrong. The 2026 owner wrote that a dealer looked at photos, said the trailer was unsafe to drive, and would not send a technician, and that an outside shop then fitted upgraded springs. The forum owner used a ratcheting tie-down to hold the trailer to the axle, limped about 250 miles, and had a suspension shop install slightly heavier springs for less than $300. That figure and the tie-down are the owner's. They are not a roadside procedure. If a spring is already broken, have the trailer repaired where it sits or towed. Call the dealer with photos and ask whether the visit is warranty before the next trip.

## DIY difficulty

Looking at the springs is something the owners describe doing. Replacing a spring, in these reports, was a dealer or a suspension shop. The tie-down was one owner's way to get to a shop, not a repair.

## Parts needed

No Jayco part number is named. The 2024 complaint says the warranty replacements were the same springs. The forum owner had a shop install slightly heavier springs and kept the unbroken original as a spare.

## Warranty notes

This is not a recall. The 2024 complaint says the spring replacements were warranty work and did not hold. The 2026 owner wrote that Jayco blamed the load and the road and did not pay. The forum owner wrote that warranty was not asked about, and the shop bill was under $300. A complaint is not a coverage decision for another Jay Flight. The years on this page are the 2024 and 2026 complaints. The forum coach is described only as a three-year-old Jay Flight 175RD.
