# Cedar Creek slide floors soften where outside trim leaks

Owner reports are not official NHTSA recalls. Each report cites a public complaint, bulletin, forum thread, or manufacturer page. It is not a failure rate, a diagnosis, or a repair procedure.

**Owner report** · Slides · 2018 Forest River Cedar Creek

## Symptoms

On Forest River Forums, a buyer of a new 2019 Cedar Creek wrote in December 2020 that the bedroom slide plywood was rotting. Water coming down the outside was getting behind the molding and into the floor. A reply on a preowned 2018 36CK2 says the bedroom slide was starting the same rot. The owner cleaned loose sealant on the slide fascia and sealed it. Another reply names a 2017 38EL with the same problem. That year is older than the Cedar Creek years on this site. A separate thread is from an owner of a 2019 Cedar Creek 38EL Champagne whose front bedroom slide floor was completely rotted. The owner wrote that the factory's first question was about an extended warranty, and that they were told it is a problem and the factory knows about it. A third thread includes a 2018 Cedar Creek 38EL whose bedroom slide floor rotted at the front outside corner after the sealant on the vertical trim failed, a 2019 Cedar Creek Silverback whose bedroom slide floor was replaced and whose table-slide floor then went soft, and a 2020 37MBH whose owner contacted Cedar Creek about the same problem on the bunkhouse slide. The opening post on that thread says the writer knows six people with Cedar Creek Silverback fifth wheels, from 2015 through 2019, who replaced slide floors, and puts the bill at $3,000 plus. That count and that figure are the writer's statement. On iRV2, a 2019 Cedar Creek owner wrote in May 2026 that the whole living-room slide floor was being replaced. That post does not say why the floor failed.

## Likely causes

Owners describe water getting behind the outside trim or flange on the slide, then into the plywood around the screws. Replies say that joint is often sealed poorly from the factory, and that the sealant has to be watched after the coach is in use. One 2020 owner wrote that Cedar Creek called it a maintenance item and said the sealant should be checked every 6 weeks. The threads do not show one missed seal on every Cedar Creek. The iRV2 post does not give a cause.

## Common fixes

Look at the sealant on the outside trim of each slide, including the top of the bottom trim, which owners say is easy to miss. Press the slide floor inside, especially at the outside corners, and look for soft or stained wood. If the wood is soft, the repairs in these threads were shop work. Several owners name Orvan at Amish Family RV in Topeka, Indiana. The 2018 38EL owner wrote that the rotted corner was replaced with a hard poly floor in one day, for $1,800. That figure is the owner's. The 2018 36CK2 owner resealed with Pro-Flex Clear before the rot spread. Posts name Geocel Pro Flex RV as the sealant Cedar Creek and that shop used. A 2020 owner later wrote that Amish Family RV said they no longer do Cedar Creek warranty work, and that Cedar Creek said the decision was the shop's. Ask Cedar Creek or the dealer to look at the wood and the trim sealant, and ask which shop they will authorize. Do not assume a shop that did this repair in an old thread still does warranty work.

## DIY difficulty

Checking sealant and pressing the floor is something owners describe doing. Replacing a slide floor, in these threads, meant a shop. One account says the slide was pulled out of the coach. These posts are not a measured procedure.

## Parts needed

No Forest River part number is named. Owners mention Pro-Flex Clear and Geocel Pro Flex RV flexible sealant, and a hard poly floor used in place of the rotted plywood on one repair.

## Warranty notes

This is not a recall. Outcomes in the threads differ. The 2019 38EL owner was asked about an extended warranty. The 2020 37MBH owner wrote that Cedar Creek agreed to a goodwill repair after calling the sealant a maintenance item. The opening post on the water-damage thread says Forest River refused. A post is not a coverage decision for another Cedar Creek. The years on this page are the 2018, 2019, and 2020 coaches the threads name that this site lists.
