# Model Z sidewall cracks at the bedroom slide

Owner reports are not official NHTSA recalls. Each report cites a public complaint, bulletin, forum thread, or manufacturer page. It is not a failure rate, a diagnosis, or a repair procedure.

## Symptoms

Brinkley's wall-crack page, updated October 6, 2026, says cracks have shown up on a small percentage of its fifth wheels, and that they were most prevalent on early 2024 model-year units. On an affected coach the crack is usually at the top or bottom corner of the bedroom slide. The page says an early sign is exterior trim near the slide coming loose, with the wall on each side of that trim sitting uneven. It says Model Z is affected less often than Model G, and that Brinkley has not seen this pattern on the Model I, Model Ix, or Model Z Air travel trailers. The same page gives Brinkley's field rates: Model Z wall-crack incidence fell 78 percent from model year 2024 to 2025, and another 99.9 percent from 2025 to 2026. Those figures are Brinkley's, and they are not a count of every Model Z. On iRV2, an owner of a 2024 Model Z 3110 wrote in May 2024 about a crack at the bottom of the interior bedroom wall next to the slide. A reply says a couple of owners had a crack in a weld inside the wall framing. In January 2025 that 3110 owner wrote that Brinkley sent a transport company to pick the coach up and take it to the Brinkley service center for the sidewall crack. A Brinkley owners forum thread quotes a 2024 company post that names Model Z and Model G. That post calls the cracks an adhesion issue between the exterior skin and the aluminum tube, describes them as cosmetic, and says they are not frame flex.

## Likely causes

Brinkley's current page says the chassis is built rigid on purpose, so the movement that remains goes into the sidewall. It concentrates where the aluminum wall framing bonds to the fiberglass, at a bedroom slide corner. The page says that stress can loosen the bond, crack the fiberglass or the interior panel, and in some cases crack welds in the aluminum. Brinkley says this is the wall, not chassis frame flex, and that the cracks they have seen have not taken away towability or slide function. The page also says loading inside the weight ratings does not cause the crack, and that their track testing showed overloading past GVWR raises the chance. The 2024 forum quote is shorter. It stops at adhesion and calls the crack cosmetic. The iRV2 replies describe a cracked weld in the wall framing. Those posts do not include a measurement.

## Common fixes

Brinkley's page says to call Customer Care at 574-501-4280, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, or to use the contact form, and to send photos of the exact spot. After the photos are reviewed, they send a list of shops trained for this repair. The repair they describe takes the exterior skin off the affected area, checks the wall framing and welds, adds aluminum supports, and installs a new skin, trim, and graphics. They say the repair itself is typically about three weeks once work starts, longer if the coach has full-body paint. You can keep using the RV until that appointment, on their page, unless something new shows up. Ask which trained shop can take the coach, and ask whether the crack matches the cases they cover. Do not drill, seal, or fill the crack unless Customer Care tells you to. The iRV2 owner was still on the way to the service center when that update was posted. That post does not describe a finished repair.

## DIY difficulty

Not a driveway job in these sources. Brinkley's page says not to repair, seal, fill, or drill the crack unless the team gives instructions for that coach. The repair they describe is body work and welding at a trained shop.

## Parts needed

No owner part number is named. The repair on Brinkley's page is a section of sidewall skin, added aluminum supports, trim, and graphics.

## Warranty notes

This is not a recall. Brinkley's page says that if the crack matches their findings and is caused by a defect, they cover the repair. If you sent photos while the coach was still under warranty, that page says the repair stays covered even if the warranty period ends before the appointment. Keep the Customer Care case number. Owners generally pay to get the RV to the shop and for lodging. A case on one coach is not a decision for another Model Z. The same page discusses Model G, which has its own report. This site's Model Z years are 2024, 2025, and 2026, which are the years that page names.
